Clearing out ready for UNI

Not long now and i'm off to uni :-). I have given myself a challenge not to spend any money and clear out my room and decorate and recycle whats already there for my uni room. Makes tidying up soo much exciting. I've recovered soo much old stuff here are a few.

Here is the bin i always use it was a funky friends bin and im way too old for it so covered with left over textured plain wallpaper.

I recoverd a glass paint set I had so many years ago probably 8 and was happy a few of the paints were still in use. I also found these dull candle holders i havent used in a while. I had fun decorating these.

Summer New Hobby

I disliked wasting paper I had no place for till i discovered junk art journals. I spend ages designing covers and searching for forgotten scraps to create pages with colour texture and just plain. This was also a great money saving way to keep a personal sketchbook at hand as my sketch book is nearly full. If you have this annoyance check out youtube for the tutorials.

(here i am trying out my pages yet to add cover on this one)

Introducing Harrison and Lennon my pet rats.
(left:Harrison.right:Lennon. Don't worry Lennon isn't eating Harrison's face shes only grooming)

Thought i'd make a random blog as i haven't posted anything in months :).Recently been trying to sketch these guys which is the most frustrating thing ever, constantly moving about even when their resting. Here are a few i managed which i feel are presentable. Apart from the annoyance their my fave characters. I named them after two of The Beatles despite them being female ha :) love

Inside my sketch book

I love visiting Gower, which I'm lucky too live by. Here I'm going to show you inside my sketch book on my latest trip I took just last week. I was a bit rusty as the weathers been cold and haven't visited for a while but I soon enjoyed studying away. Here is the results. Guess which coast? :)

Accidental Art

I get very excited when something unexpected happens. Made by originally just soaking up the ink of my desk, noticed a face shape so why not. I like it, turned out better than the piece I was working on I reckon.

London and Early Influences

Recently been to London visiting galleries which was great seeing a few of my favourite artists; Augustus John, Ceri Richards, Turner, Renoir and a lot more. But the best achievement, after walking what felt miles, was seeing a WHOLE wall full of Van Gogh's at the "The National Gallery". Amazing.

When seven I was introduced to "Messy" oil pastels, I attempted many times to copy his work through books. I've had the pleasure of finding one, just for laughs here it is. A poor attempt of the painting "Church at Auvers" (which is sadly not located at the "The National Gallery"), still good too look back in time.

Introduction

My name is Bethany Hayman and I'm 19, I've been interested in art throughout my life. I'l be using this Blog as a Online Portfolio and Timeline to see how I progress with my art, I want an audience so thought this would be a great way to do so. Il be updating often and when something exciting comes up.

Its my first time setting up any kind of Blog so I think I'l leave you with something small which was great fun making simply by using  chickenwire, modrock and painted with acrylic. Also influenced by one of my favourite artists (Kevin Sinnott, "Running Away With The Hairdresser")
